Today was the unofficial start of Grand Session. Four Daughters from Bethel 11 submitted entries for various competitions, and competed in ritual. In the evening the Grand Bethel performed a Majority Ceremony, which was followed by an ice cream social.

Later in May, three members of Bethel 11 attended the Official Visitation of the Supreme Guardian. In the afternoon the girls had fun visiting a local amusement park with the Supreme Bethel Honored Queen, even though it was a bit rainy.
That evening, the Grand Bethel performed a majority ceremony.

It's been a busy week for the Bethel. On Tuesday we had our regular meeting, on Thursday we helped the Lodge with a dinner honoring the Grand Master on his official visit, and yesterday we helped our Amaranth Court with their installation.

Today was the anniversary of the birthday of the founder of Job's Daughters, so during our regular meeting, the girls held a tribute to her. We also installed our two newest members into offices. Our DeMolay Chapter held a practice downstairs, then joined the girls for pictures and refreshments.

March Madness & DJR

Yesterday three Daughters from Bethel 11 attended March Madness. Bethels from all over our state gathered to hold a Jobie Congress, where they approved new rules to govern our Grand Bethel and Miss program. They also elected next year's Grand Bethel Honored Queen and Senior Princess. Finally, the Grand Bethel initiated eleven new girls into Job's Daughters at the annual Statewide Initiation. Two of our Daughters served in the Grand Bethel - as Senior Princess and the Third Messenger. In the evening, the Bethel girls joined with the Rainbow girls and the DeMolay for the annual DJR dance and talent show.

Safety Services Dinner

Tonight our Masonic Lodge held its annual Safety Services Dinner, where they honor local police and fire officers. There were over 130 people in attendence, and the Bethel and our DeMolay chapter had to help bus tables, serve dessert, and clean up afterward.

For our second meeting in January, the Bethel had a "fireside" meeting, where they run through the business without dressing in robe or doing a formal opening and closing. Then they joined our DeMolay chapter for a night of lazer tag. Then in February, we held a scrapbook night fundraiser at the Lodge.

Several Daughters from Bethel 11 received multiple awards for their individual entries, and the Bethel as a whole placed 2nd in choir. Yesterday six Daughters from Bethel 11 attended the Grand Bethel Tea, where Job's Daughters from all over the State visit the residents of our Masonic Easter Star home.

Last night our Lodge held a dinner to honor Past Masters and Widows. The Daughters helped serve and clear, and then held a dessert auction fundraiser.

On Saturday we had a special meeting to install some of our executive Bethel Guardian Council. Since it was a weekend in the summer, turnout was pretty small, but we got important work done.

Last night we held a fireworks fundraiser at our Lodge. We charged people to park in our lot, where they could see the City fireworks. We also sold snacks.

On the second day of Grand Session, the Grand Bethel met to hear reports and choose their officers for next year. After dinner the awards were given out for the competitions held on Thursday. Like last year, several girls from Bethel 11 won awards in sewing, cooking, literature, and arts and crafts. The girls also won first place for choir, and four girls placed in ritual.

In April we held elections, to determine who was going to be our line officers for next term, and who would be our Grand Bethel Delegates. Last night we had a Purple Party, and invited girls who we hoped were interested in joining our Bethel.

Grand Bethel Weekend

This weekend we joined Bethels from all over our State for the annual Grand Bethel Weekend. During Grand Bethel Weekend, the Daughters of the Bethel vote on amendments to the bylaws, choose next year's Grand Bethel Honored Queen, and have other fun activities. When the girls weren't otherwise busy, they hung out at our table, where they sold snacks and specialty coffees.

This year, there were four candidates for Grand Bethel Honored Queen.

Saturday night, the Grand Bethel performed a Majority Ceremony.

After the Majority Ceremony was a reception for the Grand Bethel Officers. During the reception, the members of this year's Supreme Ritual team were announced. Bethel 11 was very proud to have one of our Daughters on it again this year.

Following the reception was a lip-syncing contest.

Masonic Youth Dinner

In March, the Bethels of Job's Daughters celebrate the birth of their founder, Ethel T. Wead Mick, and the Chapters of the Order of DeMolay celebrate their founding. March, therefore, was a good month for our Masonic Lodge to honor them with a dinner. Following the dinner Thursday night, our Honored Queen and Princesses performed a short ceremony honoring Mother Mick, and a member of our DeMolay chapter told about the founding of DeMolay, its precepts, its officers, and the man it was named after. Unfortunately, turnout was small, as many of the Masons were at the Scottish Rite Reunion.

Flocking

One of our fundraising activities is "flocking". Late at night, we put plastic flamingos on the lawns of people we know. In return for a donation, we'll take the flamingos away and place them on the lawn of their choosing.

Yesterday we held a fundraising dinner. We made chicken cordon bleu and served it to friends and members of our Masonic Lodge. Afterward we had a Purple Party, and then we went "flocking" - which is where we put plastic flamingoes on lawns in return for donations. We're trying to raise money to go to Grand Bethel and Grand Session.

GB Representative from California

For our first meeting of the new year, we were joined by the California Grand Bethel Representative to Oregon, Idaho, and Washington. We were hoping to have more guests, especially from our neighbor Bethel, but really bad weather kept a lot of people away.

In December, we exemplified the Initation ceremony, sold mistletoe to raise money, and attended the Installation of Bethel 19 on the 15th.

Yesterday was our Installation of officers, as well as that of our Lodge's. On the 21st, we had a practice, had a gift exchange, and then went to the local cinema to watch National Treasure 2.

At the Mason's Installation, the Daughters performed a Masonic tribute, forming the square and compasses.

After a break for dinner, we installed six girls into offices for the next term.

After the Installation, several of the DeMolay State officers helped our Chapter perform the Rose ceremony for our new Honored Queen.

Afterwards we had refreshments and a dance.

November Update

In November we had elections, determining who will be our Line Officers for the next term.

Two of our Daughters attended the Occasional Grand Lodge, where they met up with other Job's Daughters in our state.

And had their picture taken with the Grandmaster.

On the last day of the month, we held a Purple Party sleepover at the Lodge. We played games, ate ice cream, and had an open meeting for prospective members. Later we decorated the Lodge Christmas tree and watched a movie.

Grand Bethel Tea

This weekend, we drove four daughters over to our state's Masonic and Eastern Star Home, for the annual Grand Bethel Tea. During the year, we send letters to some of the residents of the home, and after the tea, we visited with them.

Then we went out to dinner with Bethel 67, and spent the rest of the night hanging out at their Lodge.

Miss Job's Daughter Pageant

On Sunday we drove a couple of the Daughters to the pageant to determine our state's next Miss Job's Daughter. This year we had three contestants, and one of them asked our Bethel Guardian to be her coach for the pageant.

We were very excited when she ended up winning! She will represent our order at all the Masonic family events for the next year, as well as competing at Supreme Session next summer.

Shadow Night

This week we had our "shadow" meeting, where the Masons from our Lodge follow the Daughters around and try to mimic their actions.

Leadership Camp

The first weekend of October, our Guardian and Secretary took six Daughters to Leadership Camp.

While there, they played games and learned more about Job's Daughters.

Two of our girls were chosen to compete in a "Jeopardy" game - testing their knowledge of Job's Daughters.

On September 12th we had our official visit. The Grand Guardian and Associate Grand Guardian came over to review our books. We were very proud of the ritual work of our Bethel, as five of the Daughters did perfect work during their Stations and Duties. Later in the month, we had a dessert auction at the Mason's dinner, and earned money cleaning up a Majority Member's garage.

Bethel 1 Initiation

On August 27th, we took three Daughters on a last minute trip up to Bethel 1 to help with an initiation.

Supreme Session - Day 5

To unwind after competing for Miss International Job's Daughter all week, we took our Miss to the mall. She and Bethel 11's daughter had a pedicure, and then she and Bethel 11's Guardian had their ears pierced. The girls then went dress shopping, along with some other members of our jurisdiction.

After shopping, we met the rest of our jurisdiction for dinner.

We then attended the installation of the Supreme Bethel.

The final event of the day was a luau themed dance. The next day was the installation of the Supreme Council, but we had to leave to catch our flight home.

Supreme Session - Day 4

This morning we attended the Supreme Bethel meeting. Three girls from our jurisdiction were drawn for Supreme Bethel offices, including a floor office.

At noon, we attended the award luncheon. Although our Ritual Team didn't place, several of the team members won ribbons for ritual, performing arts, and arts and crafts. Bethel 11's team member won first place in the new member proficiency ritual and black and white photography. She also placed in four other arts and crafts categories. Here she is with the Supreme Guardian and Associate Supreme Guardian after winning her first award.

To celebrate, we took some of the girls into Chicago, to visit the American Girl Place store.

We returned to Merrillville in the evening to cheer for our Miss Job's Daughter while she competed in the pageant.

Afterwards, the whole delegation enjoyed an ice cream party in the lobby.

Supreme Session - Day 3

Today we slept in and then did some shopping. Our Ritual Team member made a bear to give to our Miss Job's Daughter. In the evening we attended the formal opening.

These daughters all raised over one thousand dollars for the Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment fund.

The International Master Councilor and Grandmaster of DeMolay addressed the crowd, along with members of other Masonic concordant bodies.

The Grandmaster of Masons in Indiana spoke last.

Supreme Session - Day 2

This morning, the Supreme Ritual Team members got up early to get ready to compete. After having their hair done and one last practice and robe check, they headed to the competition room.

They came out confident they had done well.

That night, they attended a dance to benefit the HIKE fund.

Supreme Session - Day 1

After Conclave, we flew to Indiana for Supreme Session. We checked into the Radisson in Merrillville, and did a little swimming before turning in.

The next day, we registered and walked around the hotel and convention center grounds, meeting people and trading swaps. Here's our Ritual team member with our Miss Job's Daughter and Miss International.

DeMolay Conclave

We took our Supreme Ritual Team member with us to DeMolay Conclave. She helped one of the DeMolay Sweethearts sort name badges.

Later, she and our state's Miss Job's Daughter (and fellow Supreme Team member) helped decorate the boys' hats. This year, Conclave had a western theme.

While her brother competed at ritual Friday night, she helped Bethel 66 sell cotton candy at the fair.

Treasure Hunt

We had a meeting on Wednesday, July 10, at which we installed most of the Bethel Guardian Council. Some of our Daughters and Council members weren't there because of summer vacation, but we were pleased that the Bethel Guardian and ABG of Bethel 19 came over to visit our Bethel, along with the Honored Queen and another member, who helped the girls open and close. On the following Saturday, some of the Daughters went on a "Treasure Hunt". They used a GPS device to find "caches".

The caches they found all had to do with animals.

One of the caches was in a local rock garden.

Masonic Youth Appreciation Night

On Tuesday, we loaded up a half dozen of the Daughters and a couple of our DeMolay into two cars and drove a couple of hours to a Discovery Village for a Masonic Youth Appreciation Night sponsored by a local Lodge. The Mason's fed us and paid for admission into the museum, which has lots of cool exhibits on science.

Supreme Kickoff Barbeque

Yesterday, we took our Supreme Ritual team member to the Kickoff Barbeque. It's an annual event where the leaders of many of the Bethels in the State gather to wish good luck to those traveling to Supreme Session.

Grand Session Day 3

On Saturday morning, the new Grand Bethel Officers and Choir practiced for their installation.

In the afternoon, we watched the Installation of the Grand Guardian Council.

Because our Honored Queen was a incoming Princess, she was escort for the incoming Vice Grand Guardian, and sat next to her in the East, with all the VIPs.

In the evening was the Installation of Grand Bethel Officers. Our Honored Queen was installed as a Princess.

Our other Grand Bethel representative was installed into the Choir.

At the close of Installation, the Grand Bethel Officers formed the cross.

After Installation, the State DeMolay Officers performed the Rose Ceremony.

On Friday morning, the girls attended a meeting of the Grand Bethel, while the adults met with the Grand Council to elect new officers and consider bylaw changes. The girls then had fun at lunch.

After lunch, the girls went to a nearby Outlet mall to do some shopping.

In the evening, we had the task of putting up "stars" for every organization that provided donations for the dessert at which the results of the competitions would be announced.

Our Guardian won several awards for promotional materials she has created in the past year.

Our girls won lots of awards, including ones in baking, photography, and ritual. We were very proud, especially since this was the first Grand Session six of them had ever attended.

We got second place in the choir competition.

Our Supreme Team member won sweepstakes for ritual and photography. Here she is with the Grand Guardian, Associate Grand Guardian, and the other members of the Supreme Team.

Each year, Job's Daughters hold Grand Sessions, where members from all over a state meet to chose new officers and compete in arts and crafts, baking, sewing, performing arts, writing, and ritual. This year, eight daughters of our Bethel attended. Here are seven of them just before the formal banquet on the first day.

Later, our girls sang a song during the formal opening of Grand Session. There were many leaders of the Masonic family present. Two of our girls are in robes because they were officers of the Grand Bethel.

One of our girls made the Supreme Ritual team. She will be traveling to Indiana to compete at the Supreme Session later this summer. We were very proud.
